چکیده

It is not simple to model cross and auto-variograms to describe the covariation of two or more soil properties, since the models that are fitted must meet certain constraints. These constraints are most readily met by fitting a linear model of coregionalization (LMCR). This presents practical problems. Not all combinations of authorized variogram functions constitute a LMCR. This paper presents a method for automated fitting of variogram functions to auto and cross-variogram estimates, subject to the constraints of the LMCR. The method uses simulated annealing to minimize a weighted sum of squares between the observed and modelled variograms. The method was applied to some data on soil. It was found to be robust to the initial choice of variogram parameters. Practical methods for setting up a good cooling schedule for the simulated annealing are discussed. FACTOR 2 D : a computer program for factorial cokriging

Spatial variables in the geosciences often display different patterns of variability at different spatial scales. When these variables are cross-correlated, the magnitude of the cross-correlation may differ at the different scales of spatial variability. This scale-dependent spatial variability and cross-correlation can be investigated by geostatistical factor analysis, which consists of four s...

Application of simulated annealing for optimization of blasting costs due to air overpressure constraints in open-pit mines

Estimating the costs of blasting operations is an important parameter in open-pit mining. Blasting and rock fragmentation depend on two groups of variables. The first group consists of mass properties, which are uncontrollable, and the second one is the drill-and-blast design parameters, which can be controlled and optimized. The design parameters include burden, spacing, hole length, hole diam...

Determination of the linear and non-linear relationships between soil erodibility factor and effective parameters on it in a mountainous watershed with severe soil erosion

Soil erodibility factor is a criterion of soil particle resistance to detachment, transport, and effects of erosivity factors (rain drop, runoff, and wind) during the soil loss processes. In this study, non-linear support vector machines (SVMs) method was used for investigating the effects of some topography, soil physical and mechanical properties on soil erodibility in a part of Northern Karo...

Using Simulated Annealing (SA), Evolutionary Algorithm To Determine Optimal Dimensions of Clay Core in Earth Dams

Earth dam is a structure as homogeneous or non-homogeneous forms for raising water level or water supply. Earth dam consist of different parts that one of the main parts is clay core. Choosing an optimal non permeable core which causes reduction of seepage through dam body and also being stable is necessary. The objective of this research is to optimize the geometry of earth dam clay core such ...

A Simulated Annealing Algorithm for Multi Objective Flexible Job Shop Scheduling with Overlapping in Operations

In this paper, we considered solving approaches to flexible job shop problems. Makespan is not a good evaluation criterion with overlapping in operations assumption. Accordingly, in addition to makespan, we used total machine work loading time and critical machine work loading time as evaluation criteria. As overlapping in operations is a practical assumption in chemical, petrochemical, and gla...
